Apes Hill Plantation

Overlooking the west coast with expansive views of the Caribbean Sea, Apes Hill Plantation stands on 10 acres of property. Perched atop the island’s highest point, on the second hole of the Apes Hill Golf Course, lies the Plantation.

Apes Hill Plantation has been around since the mid-seventeenth century, but the hurricane of 1681 destroyed an earlier building. Air conditioning is a luxury rather than a necessity in this home, which now boasts four bedrooms and two and a half baths thanks to the cooling Tradewinds.

With the exception of the kitchen and laundry room, the entire main home is situated on a single level. The house remains cool even on the hottest days, thanks to the thick rubble walls.

On the site, you may find two more residences. The first is a studio apartment set in the paddock among a grove of mahogany trees; the second is the historic Boiling House, a two-bedroom home with eight thousand square feet of space.

On the site, you can find a couple other historic structures that could also be transformed. Two ancient mill walls can also be found here. An example is the white lime kiln that replaced the original wind mill, which was in operation until 1939. The second is unique to the island; it is a water mill.
